John Hess Auction Services, Inc provides a comprehensive service and staff to facilitate successful, professionally run auctions in south-east and south-central Pennsylvania.
Hess auctions is one of the most active in the area, conducting over 100 sales per year with real estate sales exceeding 15 million dollars in sales in 2007. Even with its great success, this home-grown business has stayed in touch with the core values of its beginning – a commitment to good relations with the community, a friendly approachable leadership model with the goal to provide the highest level of professional service to meet the customers' needs.
About Us
John M. Hess Auction Service, Inc. found it’s beginnings in the early 90’s in several small leased facilities as the epitome of a small family run business. In its beginning John was not only the lead auctioneer, he was the only auctioneer. John’s wife, Jacy, and sister, Elizabeth, clerked and cashiered every sale. Slowly, over the course of time, the small business gained momentum with the construction of their Manheim facility and the completion of an extremely successful year of marketing real estate at auction in 2003. Hess Auction Service began to resemble the company that it is widely recognized as today.
To date, Hess Auction Service employs 3 full time auctioneers and a wide range of support staff that enables the company to be able to function efficiently marketing a wide variety of real estate and commercial and personal property. In 2007 John M. Hess Auction Service Inc. conducted well over 100 individual auctions and is looking forward to serving you in 2008.
John Hess
John Hess is the driving force behind the great success of Hess Auction Services in Lancaster,
Lebanon and Berks counties. Born and raised on a Lancaster County Farm, fifth generation John Hess inherited a great
work ethic and the organizational skills that eventually was to push Hess Auction Services to become one of the areas
most active auction companies – and the company to call for real estate sales, commercial sales and personal property
disbursements. John's friendly and sincere way of dealing with people is easily recognized and widely appreciated.
John Carl, Jr.
John Carl is the "other John" in Hess Auction Service that helps to bring great energy and
enthusiasm to the auction atmosphere. Born and raised in Lebanon County, John Carl had a variety of agriculturally
related experience – even a tour of the rodeo – before coming on board with the Hess team. John has a natural charisma
and energy that makes him a natural fit for this team.
Phil Nissley
Hess Auction's most recent hire, Phil Nissley, is also a Lancaster County native with a life-time
involvement in the local community. Bringing 15 years experience with antiques of upper end value and with rare
collectables, Phil adds a specific value to the Hess team. He is recognized in the business and financial community
as an expert appraiser of personal property items. With an extensive background in real estate auctions, Phil is a
great addition to the growing Hess auction success story.
